Jeff Green

2002

Tonight Jeff Green bestrides the stage like a comedy colossus, taking rhythm and timing in his stride. Green is certainly one of the few comedians who have the courage and self confidence to present themselves as a solid and comfortable stage presence. Where other less experienced stand ups fall into the “Am I doing ok?” motions, here we seen a true professional in his element and loving it.

Green’s philosophy seems to be to draw the audience in, just as anyone who has ventured into the comic fray should.. Through this, he succeeds and the air positively crackles with wit. Although it may be noted that his material may be described as traditional stand-up fare. With a large portion of the act revolving around relationships, we are truly on well trodden ground. It doesn’t matter. The one liners are snappy and the audience, although apprehensive about answering his open questions, were clearly loving it.

For those of you who are contact lens wearers and are planning a trip to see Jeff Green this festival: beware you may laugh so hard you’ll cry them out.

There can be only one at each Edinburgh Festival and this year Jeff Green is it. Quality.

5/5
