Leg warmers, spiral perms and Wham! - most of us are trying hard to forget the Eighties, but Jason Bradbury is reveling in them.
This exuberant, congenial character is actually on the lookout for all of us and encourages us to deal with our problems by embracing the Eighties and all that that entails.
Based round Bradbury’s love of breakdancing, the therapy is presented in five easy lessons, with each lesson aimed to deal with one of the ”five things that make you feel crap”. There’s no place for Oedipal complexes, Jungian theories or Freudian rhetoric here, just simple, straightforward honesty and no nonsense answers.
Bradbury makes a wonderful host and simply shines throughout the show. He excels at all aspects of presentation, whether he is recalling his past, chatting with the audience or teaching ”volunteers” to get down and freaky, and makes therapy more enjoyable than it ever should be.
Breakdance Therapy is a delightfully original work and shouldn’t be missed. Bradbury’s sublime mix of showmanship, comedy and bountiful b-boy style is the ideal antidote to today’s woes and will have you bodypopping long after you’ve left the building.
