Some people where born to be stand-ups and others weren’t. Jeff Mizra falls very definitely into the latter category.
After dandering through a tiresome and listless opening sketch, Mizra seems lost. It’s as if he’s not quite sure what to do. He knows he’s meant to say something, but not quite what. As a compromise, he launches into some banter with the crowd. This is fair enough under normal circumstances, but when he stretches this to twenty minutes, for very little laughs, it becomes ridiculous.
It would be nice to say that Walking With Muslims eventually breaks into a biting observational satire, but it goes nowhere except for down. Mizra occasionally lands the odd joke, but the lasting memory will be of his poor delivery and nervous disposition.
