Nice Mum

2004

Many people moan that Nice Mum simply rips off every other comedy act but the thing is that they don’t deny it. Though they’d probably say that they’re just influenced by them.

The weird thing about Nice Mum isn’t their open plagiarism but the fact they revel in being rubbish. This is maybe a little off base, as the duo obviously rehearse and prepare, but they do seem to have a talent for losing the thread or fluffing their lines. This sort of shoddy work would normally be enough to destroy a show yet it is the random elements of Nice Mum that show off their real talent.

While some of the circuit’s top acts can be thrown by a slight deviation in their set, Nice Mum take every bump and knock in their stride and, more often than not, turn them into laughs that eclipse the punch line.

Nice Mum isn’t for the anally retentive control freak but if you’re happy to deal with two extremely funny guys accidentally destroying their show and being funnier for it give them a go.

3/5
