Miles Jupp Presents The Lost And Lonely Rebels

2004

It’s quite refreshing seeing comedians doing something new on the Fringe, rather than flogging the same old material, so it’s particularly pleasing to see Miles Jupp discarding his landed gentry guise to join the Lost and Lonely Rebels.

Featuring banshees, camp air traffic controllers and high-tech confessionals, The Lost and Lonely Rebels is a really enjoyable sketch show that avoids the extremely surrealist approach of lesser student revues in favour of real laughs.

This extremely competent romp should be held up has an example to all the student troupes out there as the trio really show how skits should be done. Their relaxed, flowing style is a joy to watch and while some of their punchlines fail to hit home, it is still a pleasure to watch this skilled trio at work. Admittedly Jupp et al don’t deliver tons of deep belly laughs but their constant stream of giggles and chortles are more and enough to sate any appetite.

There are a lot of sketch shows out there this year but if you are looking for a guaranteed laugh you should definitely opt for the Rebels.
