There’s nothing like a musical interlude to soothe a troubled soul and it’s made all the more pleasant when accompanied by the comedy capers of Pluck.
Part teatime concerto, part slapstick gag-fest, The Specialists is simply delightful comedy for all ages. Mainly based around their outstanding musical talent, this delightful trio proceed to take the assembled crowd on an off-beat and wacky tour round classical music, with huge helpings of tomfoolery, one-upmanship and sheer daftness thrown in for good measure.
It is simply a pleasure to watch Pluck perform, as their ability is amazing. Not only are they very accomplished musicians but their sense of comic timing is impeccable and breathes new life into even the oldest of slapstick conceits. Some of their setups are extremely obvious but their delivery assures that they payoff always garners an unstoppable laugh.
In many ways, The Specialists is similar to last year’s work but when you find talent such as this it is worth going back year after year. There are undoubtedly funnier shows on this year but, if you want a guaranteed good time, you can’t go wrong with Pluck.
