The Kransky Sisters shuffle on stage dressed in black wigs, horrendous gothic makeup and polka dot matching outfits. The best way to describe them is like Macbeth’s three witches only pulled into modern times. The major difference, though, is these three sisters are hilarious and are made twice as amusing by never once breaking from their kooky personas.
The trouble is how do you even begin to describe a Kransky sisters show and do the justice it so deserves? Put quite simply they are a phenomenal comedy tour de force that has the audience loudly cheering for them long after they have left.
The appeal lies in the fantastic mix of dark funny stories, twisted conversations with the audience and warped cover versions of well known pop songs (performed using tools, tubas and kitchen utensils no less).
Their humour doesn’t necessarily translate to paper but with the right glance and facial expressions, I can assure you that when they pull out torches and begin to eye up the ladies handbags in the audience, careful not to look at the, ‘beautiful, beautiful men’ it is so refreshingly warped that the audience is helplessly laughing.
Praise must also go to the Kransky Sisters voices who, despite their unique versions of songs as diverse as Simon and Garfunkel to the Sugababes, are absolutely enchanting to listen to.
This has been the Highlight of my Fringe festival and I heartedly recommend you check them out.
