Billing itself as Burlesque and Cabaret, this unusual little show is difficult to define.
Introducing the characters one at a time through a variety of choreographed dancing and basic striptease (revealing nipple tassels, not nudity) make this an enjoyable piece of theatre.
Theatre it is, for this is its strength. The five actors are clearly well-versed and have created this show themselves and as a result, deliver their lines with enthusiasm, delighting in the risqué and saucy subject matter, which revolves around a lesbian love affair between a Lady and her maid. The stage is very close and they intermingle a little with the audience whilst entertaining. The heavy make-up and layered underwear costumes sit well with the subject matter, but what doesn’t, is their grasp of the Burlesque Art form. Whilst they attempt stripping and creating vignettes to musical tracks with aplomb, these are ultimately less successful and feel slightly unnecessary.
There is a sense of humour about the show as a whole, and strong performances all round make it worth seeing if you enjoy a fruity bedtime tale, although you may be left a little unsatisfied.
