Andrew Maxwell is something of a comedy veteran, having won a string of awards and filling up his Fringe venues to maximum capacity for two years in a row. Well known as a staple fixture of the BBC’s Never mind the Buzzcocks’, he makes a triumphant return to the festival.
As he walks out he is full of smiles and Irish Charm and delivers his routine in a confident, matter of fact style that almost instantly has the audience in the palm of his hands.
Discussing in depth his life in London and Ireland, he has great warmth as he shares some fantastic stories about his son, with one highlight being the time he thought it would be fun to convince his son that his grand-parents were in fact vampires!
Though the humour isn’t all as innocent, with some decidedly rude stories peppered throughout about gay men in Hampstead Heath and a jaw dropping tale about being wooed by an I.R.A splinter group who wanted him to perform a show for them and wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Maxwell never misses a beat as the audience fall about laughing to his genuinely hilarious stories. Make sure you do what you can to get a ticket because it looks like its going to be another sell out Fringe for Andrew Maxwell.
