Dan Clark – Unfangled

2007

First impressions are very important. Most of us will judge someone in the first two minutes of meeting them, and then proceed to act according to our pre-conceived notion of what that person is. At least that’s what Dan Clark thinks. Clark is a master of observational comedy, a sharp eye on human interaction; and he drinks from the everyday life experiences and filters it through his one hour show.

Although he self-confesses his show’s raison d’être simply to be a way of ‘filling dead air’, any hour spent in Clark’s company can never be wasted time. His insightfully funny views on the ways humans interact with one another and their dependability on technology (mobiles, land-lines, facebook, emails…) to achieve communication are not to be missed.

Clark is a genius when it comes to on-the-spot adlibbing. He knows how to interact with the audience, bringing out his best jokes and one liners. His rehearsed routine is a bit by the numbers, but still manages to be better than many of the stand up acts out there.

Dan Clark finishes the hour with an inventive and side-splitting funny song, a perfect ending to a great evening.
