The End of Everything Ever

2007

The End of Everything Ever is the third and final part of a fantastic trilogy by the acclaimed and award winning NIE theatre group. Though those who are not familiar with there work should not worry, as this can easily be enjoyed as a ‘stand-alone’ production. Using multiple languages, a five piece band and combining every genre from slapstick to high tragedy, this production towers over most Fringe shows. Using real life accounts from the Kindertransport association, which for the uninitiated was a non profit organization that took German and Polish children without there parents to Britain during the holocaust, it tells the tale of Agata, who is 6 and can’t fully fathom what is going on around her. Scared and alone she sits on the train to Britain and absent-mindedly chews on the name tag around her neck. She has consumed any identification of herself so now, she has no way of getting home.

This is a wonderful play, full of fantastic characters and beautifully played throughout. But underneath the humour there are some savagely upsetting moments. The grandfather’s speech to Agata about how her teddy bear has to go on vacation, is a beautiful highlight in this mad, frantic and wonderful production.

The audience simply seem to no get enough of The End Of Everything Ever, and they show it by a well deserved the long standing ovation. If you manage to get a ticket be prepared to join the fan base.
