Danceforms

2007

In this 11 piece performance there are many different styles of contemporary dance used, which makes the show worth while going to see. The choreographers showcase is a show where the dancers get to demonstrate their creative skills by bringing together different pieces, all of them different in its own way and with a different story to tell.

The first section “For people with wing” is done by a girl in a pair off dance pants and not much else. Her movement and technique in dance is very sharp and well performed. The dancer moves around the floor with such speed and rapid movements that it is hard not to notice how controlled and demanding each movement must be for here. It is a very strong and powerful piece to start the show off, even if most of it is based on the floor which makes it a bit difficult to see.

Although the rest of the dances are performed beautifully and the dancers are very talented and passionate, some of the choreography is rather dull. For example the 10th piece in the show, performed by two girls and called “The Black Eagle”, is rather boring and repetitive.

All in all, the show is interesting, and can appeal to both, those who understand dance, and those who just enjoy watching it.
