Dr Sketchy’s is an intriguing mix of burlesque club and life-drawing class, hosted by the gorgeous and saucy Miss Ophelia Bitz (recognisable to many as the hot one in Mika’s latest video). Every Dr Sketchy model is a star performer, and the afternoon begins with a brief performance before they strike a pose and the drawing begins. On this day, Special Sundae and Fondant Fancy doing a hilarious burlesque routine which skilfully combines tassel twirling, tap dancing, live vocals AND a zombie! Although the event is billed as an “art salon” it really doesn’t matter how artistic (or not) you are. Prizes in the form of glasses of bubby are awarded for best drawing using your non-dominant hand, best drawing done in the dark etc so there are plenty of opportunity to win and everybody has a giggle. Paper and art materials are available to use, or you can bring your own. Dr Sketchy’s is hugely enjoyable, and well worth checking out whether or not you consider yourself an artist.
