Henry Rollins

2007

Henry Rollins is a force to be reckoned with. The former Black Flag and Rollins Band front man wears his heart on his sleeve and is punk rock to the core. When George W. Bush warned of the ‘Axis of Evil’ and ‘Outposts of Tyranny’ Rollins took this as his cue to check his passport was up-to-date and explore the ‘rogue states’ for himself.

Not one to coast quietly through life, armed with his digital recorder and camera he travelled to Tehran and Damascus, regardless of the purported ‘bad-feeling’ towards America and its citizens. What Rollins discovered though, were people who were only too willing to welcome him into their community and youngsters leading much the same lives as those in the West.

Rollins is a man of passion and great intelligence with little time for the softly-softly approach. His venom-fuelled set is performed at break-neck speed, with barely a pause for breath. He is aware of his idiosyncrasies, but makes no apology for them and he wouldn’t be as charismatic any other way. Actor, author, USO veteran, GRAMMY award winner, philanthropist and TV host; Henry Rollins is a real performer and his fierce stand-up is a truly class act.

5/5
