Little Shop Of Horrors

2007

For those who aren’t familiar with the musical film the Little Shop of Horrors, this is a theatre production of the popular movie from the 1980’s, featuring the comic legend Rick Moranis and his unusual plant that begins to grow to an absurd size, talk and develops an insatiable appetite for blood.

Little Shop of Horrors, despite being almost twenty years old, is still as fresh and witty today as then and, throughout the years, has gained millions of fans.

It is a pleasure every year to see new youth theatre companies coming to Edinburgh to showcase their talent. So many people come to the fringe to try and make a quick buck that’s its great to see people doing shows out of their love of performing. Any of the faults the cast has can be put down to opening night jitters and some of the actors put in amazing performances. Special mention needs to go to Thomas Holmes who does a spot on Rick Moranis’ impression and to the amazing group of voices who all together play the central role of Audrey 2 (the plant).

Little Shop of Horrors is a fun show and, while adding a reference to the Men In Black was possibly a little unnecessary, it doesn’t spoil what is a very enjoyable show.
