Puppet

2007

This fantastic show starts with a robotic-like contemporary puppet dance which shows, right at the beginning, the amazing talent from the dancers. A young girl comes out on point and a young man comes out from the side to take part in a memorable duet. As they walk off, another duet moves on stage showing the strength and abilities each of them have by doing a number of difficult lifts and dance movements.

Each dancer in this show is amazingly talented which makes the story line easier to follow and the show very enjoyable! Daegu City Modern Dance Company could easily be touring around the world as they re not only astonishing to watch, brilliant and perform perfectly, but they also have such passion that transpires when dancing on stage.

This show not only has dance and physical theatre to offer but also a live jazz mixed with Korean traditional music band playing. The combination of both the live band and the dance show are very well put together, creating a perfect match.

The show is not all serious, though, and it allows for giggles, as some of the characters or situations they have in the show, like one of the villains or a dance piece involving the police fighting off the bad guys, are quite amusing.

Puppet is a perfect blend of metaphors, beautiful set sequences and acting. A must for dance-lovers and jazz fanatics.

5/5
