Some things just seem to go perfect with one another, popcorn at the movies, Doctor Who and the Daleks and what could be a better mix than six Melbourne drag queens camping up one of the most loved musicals of all time.
This show is just as much fun as it sounds, with colourful costumes and even more colourful characters who mouth along to some of the best known moments from the film and have the audience blown away with their hilarious songs and filthy reinterpretations of the characters. Quite what Julie Andrews would make of Maria the nun’s bisexual shenanigans is yet to be seen.
The show has a blistering energy and for the next hour the audience are swept along at a breathtaking pace, laughing and dancing in their seats to such loved numbers as, Do A Deer and The hills are alive. But the performance really impresses when they add in some stunning musical numbers from Cabaret and a host of contemporary music.
Great costumes, characters and music, the campest show at the Edinburgh Fringe is also one of its highlights. If this is your thing then don’t miss it.
