Shappi Khorsandi: Carry On Shappi

2007

Shappi Khorsandi is pregnant… heavily pregnant, and worryingly so. Normally this would not be the sort of thing that one would expect to mention but watching someone in their eighth month of pregnancy deliver a fast paced stand up show is akin to playing pass the parcel with a grenade. Despite the significant change to her physique, which has gained at least one extra curve since last year, this is still the same quirky, flirty, quick witted vixen underneath.

There is a worry at the start of her performance that her entire routine might revolve around her pregnancy but this worry is laid to rest within the first few minutes of the show. Shappi’s 2007 fringe offering is a diverse routine encompassing her tempestuous love life, unorthodox upbringing and discovery that despite her best efforts she is becoming a typical overbearing Iranian mother.

Shappi will entice you into the labyrinth of her dark imagination where every zany tangent she departs on culminates in another side-splitting tale from the treasure trove of traumas that is her life. Even with her hormone-induced absentmindedness she is pure comic genius.

Go and see her before her waters break!
