Seven Break-dancers, one Ballet dancer and an array of music varying from melodic classical to hard hitting beats, mix them all together and what have you got? A State of Matter. This show, quite simply is guaranteed to astound. This performance fuses perfectly the art of Contemporary Dance and Break Dance, allowing the audience to travel through the entire spectrum of emotions and leave the auditorium feeling uplifted. The slow lyrical contemporary movement of the piece allows for a true understanding of the beauty of both fluid dance movement and the male form and the incredible acrobatic ability of the dancers leaves the audience breathless and on the edge of their seats.
This show not only combines the two opposing styles excellently but it also uses some very interesting techniques to ensure that the audience is kept guessing. There is no predictability to this piece which is one of its major strengths and even for those in the audience who are unsure if they will enjoy contemporary dance this is exactly the introduction for them to this art form.
The stage persona of the cast is what takes this show to its truly deserved place in the stratosphere. The seven male dancers are charismatic, emotive and charming and their true love of their art transfers directly to the audience. Bravo!
