Moorhouse’s idea for this show is good and original: he realises he has 641 friends on Facebook, and following his gran’s advice that one can count his best friends on one hand, decides to get rid of 636 – and takes the audience along the elimination process.
Manchester-based Moorhouse knows how to talk to his audience, and his presence is so heart-warmingly genuine that one can hardly resist giving him a hug. And considering 98% of his audience are probably addicted to social networking websites, it seemed like a safe bet. Unfortunately, the act somehow fails along the way. It may be because Moorhouse digresses a lot, or maybe because his stand-up act is closer to a Friday-night-post-pint-pre-partying-in-town easy entertainment than actual stand up comedy.
He is good at what he does, but he does not try to offer more to his audience. The show often remains a series of easy jokes – a few may be very entertaining, but a lot are not even funny and can be expected; and as a result the audience is split. With a few pints and some good mates, this is guaranteed to be a good laugh. If on your own and drinking water, this will leave you unimpressed, and only wishing you could recommend this really nice bloke’s act to friends.
