The Boom Jennies: Shindig

2008

There are so many sketch shows out there, it becomes a bit boring and same-ish after seeing a bunch of them. It is good then, having The Boom Jennies around, since they have to offer some really good stuff.
Their sketches are very funny and, while some of them might not completely work, you cannot say they are not inventive (a conversation amongst different cheese, anyone?). The three girls work perfectly together, and they have every detail of their routine worked out. Their Beatles segment is very clever, while the club dancing and the wake sketches leave no audience member without laughing out loud.
The giggles are constant, and even when the sketch might not work, you have a smile in your face due to the charisma of the performers. They are very likeable, and are a real riot to watch.
If anything could be improved is the fact that the three are a bit typecast, playing similar characters with similar traits in all the sketches. A bit of variation would do no harm, but since they nail their characteristics, this is more of an observational comment than a real nudge.
A great hour, a great show, three great actors. Recommendable? More like unmissable.
