‘Porn The Musical’ is the story of a young Stefan who, after being scorned by his cheating fiancé, moves to New York to start afresh. Once there he meets the voluptuous Sanddy and is swiftly entangled into employment within the adult movie industry. He becomes very close with his new varied group of friends and adventure ensues as they try to make their most successful movie ever to prevent the studio executive from closing down their future endeavours. As you may expect this production is an unashamedly blatant cocktail of double entendre, crude innuendo and penis gags. However it is non-stop hilarity from beginning to end. At no point have the writers tried to convey a serious socio-cultural message through their humour instead opting for pure entertainment value throughout, which is indeed an interesting move but one that has definitely paid off.
The cast of this show are talented, versatile (insert obvious joke here), and clearly in love with the show and enjoying ever minute they perform in this production. The musical score is catchy and vibrant with the audience even being unable to stay still in their seats during the up-tempo numbers.
A particularly special mention should be made to actress Sarah Naudi who, in her role as Sanddy, shows exceptional acting flair and a set of pipes to rival many a West End performer. This girl is an exceptional talent and a reason to see this show in itself.
Unfortunately due to its obvious vulgarity and adult nature it is unlikely that Porn – The Musical will ever go mainstream but this show will be around as a cult classic to rival such shows as Rocky Horror, Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, Return to the Forbidden Planet and other such cult musicals for many years to come.
