Lucy Porters new show revolves around her dislike for gold as a gaudy metal that lacks subtelty and class. She uses a vast array of dynamic examples of gold to emphasise her point including one very interesting piece of audience participation where she has an audience member actually ingest some gold leaf. Although her comedy doesn’t always focus solely on this point it is still an exciting and interesting vehicle for her stand up performance.
Porter is a vibrant and talented comedian who has a bizarre ability to spot comic value in the most unlikely of places. She has an extremely likeable stage presence and her interaction with the audience is enjoyable which keeps her public onside. The flow throughout the entire performance is flawless with a natural tone and rhythm, which emphasises her already impeccable comic timing.
Her retelling of her Dubai experience although lengthy is well worth the cost of the ticket alone. Although Porter often veers off topic it is always relevant and entertaining and the audience is able to follow her though pattern with out any problem. The only disappointment with this show is the continuing interruption from her “director”. The intention behind these interruptions, as a comic endeavour, are obvious but unfortunately retract from the enjoyment of Porter herself and only stand to interrupt her natural flow.
Overall a very good performance by an extremely talent comedian.
