The beautiful and charming Ali McGregor, star of opera Burlesque and festival must La Clique, returns to the Fringe and she is bringing some friends. Lots of friends actually, as every night she is acting with the best of the Fringe at her late night variety show. Armed with her awe inspiring voice, wonderful comedy timing, some wicked tunes and a cheeky comedy butler, Saxon McAllister as backup to keep the show flowing, she delivers a brilliant evening.
Her guests, in tonight’s case are rapid fire impressionist and comedian Anil Desai, hilarious Felicity ward, comedy musician Martin White and best of all Jess Love who dazzles with an incredible hulla-hoop finale doing some tricks that leave the audience with open mouths.
But Ali McGregor is clearly the star of the show, stealing the limelight with cracking cover of AC/DC’s ‘You shook me all night long’, played on an early 80’s keyboard, through to a haunting rendition of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’, and best of all a unique rendition of Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get you out of my head’ that will never make you thing of Kylie in the same light again. These songs, while perhaps over familiar to those who have seen her perform throughout the years, are a joy to hear live again.
Funny, charming and peppered with some rude surprises this a brilliant and thoroughly enjoyable evening.
