It is two weeks into the Edinburgh Festival and Maxwell freely admits that it is driving him demented. Perhaps it is this frustration that adds to Andrew’s energy revealing him to be one of the funniest comedians around who simply will not take any prisoners. No one is safe from his wild eyed savage tongue as he tears into the people of Edinburgh, Swedish police, paedophiles, his family, transvestites, cocaine binges and many other topics that will have you roaring with laughter one minute and trying not to suck the air through your teeth when he says some things that are painfully close to the knuckle.
His stand up is a joy to be a part of as he rattles through his set, telling brilliant and very funny stories, jumping from one tale to the next, and at some points entire plot strands of jokes are dropped never to be mentioned again. Not that the audience care that not every story comes to its natural end, as Maxwell has them all eating out the palm of his hands to busy belly laughing to care about such things as what happened after he was arrested.
Maxwell has a reputation as one of the finest comedians at the Fringe and every single audience member is in agreement tonight, as leave the auditorium with faces aching from grinning for too long and bellies sore from laughing.
