Let’s get it over with: Daniel Sloss is an 18 year old stand up comedian from Fife . Still with us? Good, you should be. Yes, Sloss might only be 18, and yes it might be slightly awkward at points during his show, when you realise he is very young. But then again, he is very good too, and extremely funny.
Sloss is a breath of fresh air, a surprise of sorts, since from the moment he comes on stage you are judging his every move. It is unfair for a comedian to have to deal with such a heavy weight on his shoulders, but the amazing thing about Sloss is that in the first ten minutes, he has dealt with the issue and moved on. Yes, he is young, but that cannot and should not stop you from enjoying his routine.
Though he might over rely on swearwords at times and his humour veers towards the scatological, his views on teenage life, growing up, and life in Fife are very insightful and refreshingly honest. Sloss is someone who is not scared to speak up, to say his opinion, to tell it like it is (even if at points, ‘how it is’ might be slightly exaggerated).
Another surprising fact about Sloss is that, at his tender age of 18, he can handle hecklers much better than many comedians out there. Be it because of his ‘rough’ Fife upbringing or his ‘I don’t care’ attitude (according to the norms of being 18, apparently), Sloss has a way with words that can easily silent any heckles coming, sign of a comedian who knows how to be on stage.
He might be young, and he still has a long way to go in life, but for the time being, he is bloody fantastic.
