Job … FAIL, Money … FAIL, Life? … FAIL!
How do you begin to describe a show that jumps from flying cello-tape to obscure lyrics to game show type hilarity? With four simple words: SAM SIMMONS IS GENIUS! As a comedian his timing is impeccable with a flair for high speed delivery. Simmons manages to fit the material of about 3 hours into his hour long slot without pausing for as much as a second of contemplation. He uses costumes and props, dancing and singing, and an array of other comedic techniques that only the most insanely gifted comedian would be able to combine.
Simmons is reminiscent of the start point for many other such cult comedy figures that have become a staple of British youth culture, most notably BBC’s The Mighty Boosh and Flight of the Concordes. He hot-foots from one topic to another reveling in the uninhibited hilarity and on occasion leaving his audience to catch up with him. The only problem that an audience could possible have with this performer and his material is that it is so far off centre that the humour may be entirely lost on patrons that are more comfortable with the safety of a slow structure knock knock joke. This is a must see for the comedy lovers festival diary.
