Circus is sexy. It is also spectacular and a little bit surprising. Once inside the vaguely tardis-esque tent you are taken into a self contained world which while resembling the normal one is peopled with beings who fly and perform feats that will amaze.
Each of the pieces within the programme stands alone and is accompanied by either music or spoken word, or a combination, which when combined with the lighting effects accentuate the mood dictated by the performer. The variety of moods within the performance is broad ranging from very moving melancholic to the raucously comedic. They are sometimes darker and more complex than the feel good circuses of yesteryear
The skill and strength of the performers leaves the audience in turns stunned or rapturous and utilise a range of circus equipment supported by some eccentric props. The chaos that erupts around the space at points can be overwhelming but it is best to revel in the spectacle and just soak in the atmosphere. As a ‘parade performance’ the normal stage / audience barriers simply do not exist in any fixed sense it is wise to take advantage of this fact and to find the best location possible, remembering that there is more than one potential line of sight, it may take the rest of the audience time to cotton on to this fact, but just go for it.
This show is a visual spectacle that has to be experienced to be understood.
